Linda Lalonde's Children Set Up GoFundMe Page
The children of Linda Lalonde, who was allegedly murdered by her partner in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield on Saturday, have set up a crowdfunding campaign to offer their mother a funeral commemoration "worthy of who she was."
It was one of Ms. Lalonde's children, Danny Lalonde Langlois, who told TVANouvelles.ca that relatives wanted to raise funds since the victim, Linda Lalonde, had no financial means.
"Unfortunately, our loving mother did not have access to any form of insurance since she started her life with a rare cancer (neuroblastoma) so she was uninsurable. She was living on disability assistance, and had no savings," we can read on the GoFundMe page put online Tuesday by her relatives.
Already on Saturday, messages of support for relatives were pouring in on social media. Internet users affected by the tragedy offered their most sincere condolences to Ms. Lalonde's children.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported us and will continue to support us. If you are unable to donate, please just share. Sincerely: thank you from the bottom of my heart,” the GoFundMe page says.
Ms. Lalonde's partner, Stéphane Masse, allegedly killed her with a bladed weapon, possibly following a conflict between the two.
The 38-year-old man then went to a police station in Montreal on Saturday afternoon to confess to "having assaulted his partner."
The Montreal Police Department called on officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) to verify whether the man was telling the truth.
When the patrol officers arrived at the residence on Verner Street in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, they found his wife unconscious.
The death of Linda Lalonde, 48, was confirmed on the scene.
